Our music is unique in that we never set out to sound like such-and-such a band or musical genre or create 'catchy songs' or 'dreamy instrumentals', although we often do both. When we rehearse we just press record then start playing, then what will be will be. These recordings are sometimes never listened to again, though we also go back and try recapturing elements, adding bits, removing more bits, like sculpting something crude into a shape. The album captures this spontaneity brilliantly, melding straight-down-the-middle postpunk (Red) with dance numbers (The New Breed of Dreamers); our debut single (Machine Boy) is quirky but poppy postpunk while its b-side is more of an ambient soundtrack (Shibuya). If there is any sort of ethos with the music we set out to produce it's always about keeping it interesting, looking forward rather than wallowing in nostalgia. Never that.
